Wowwowowow! I got the chance to buy an old ‹FAG Control 900› – Yes: this means 900mm of printing fun!
This one is from the 60ies and it is the same model as my ‹FAG Control 405›, just laaaaarger. It is an halfautomatic press with the pressbedsize 65cm x 90cm and the
maximum form size is just 1cm smaller in both dimensions.
This old piece of tank-technique weighs 2tons and it took us two days of hard working just to lift it into my studio. I also had to build a platform to space the weight. I got this press from an old printmaker near Basel. You don't find these large letterpress cylinder proof presses often these days, so I am really proud of my big one.
My electroboy is still working on some electrical controllers but I think it should be working soon. Can't wait to crank some shiny black black ink with that one...
